Camberwell Lacrosse Club is proud to continue its association with Oldham Naidoo Lawyers, who have renewed their sponsorship and commitment to the club. Our sponsors are part of our community and their financial support is crucial to the success of our club.
Last week, club president Ross Melville presented Renishka Naidoo-Weisse, Managing Partner at Oldham Naidoo Lawyers, the club jersey bearing their logo.
The National Championships are being held this week at the Footscray Hockey Center. Camberwell Lacrosse Club is represented by state league players Joel Easson (#2) and Ben Greenwood (#5).
Joel is part of the senior VIC state team and was named game MVP last night in the win against WA.
Ben is part of the Australian U19 squad, who were also off to a good start defeating NZ 14-10. This is the last training camp on Aussie shores for the team, which will be travelling to Canada to compete in the 2016 FIL Under 19 World Lacross Championships, in a couple of weeks.
The VIC state team, trying to avoid a 5 year national title drought (which would be the longest in its history), is off to a great start, defeating regining champions WA 12-11 in OT last night. Joel Easson was named game MVP. What a great debut to his state representative career.
More than sixty years ago a small switch box and light was erected on a post between the edge of the road and the Francis Crescent playing field at the Saxby Road end where the club trained and often played matches. It was put there by the club to control a single low-powered light used for mid-week training by the Camberwell-Glen Iris teams. Strangely it is still there - maybe it has been given heritage listing !
Playing without a substitutes bench Camberwell notched up an important victory in a tightly contested match at Eric Raven Reserve. This kept the Wells in touch with the top four. Jo Pagliaro was again the standout player, scoring 5 goals off the midfield and making fine running clears from defense.
