U11's travel to Altona

Camberwell Cannons 11 lost to Altona 17

New player Nick O’Meara opened brilliantly with an early goal for the Camberwell Cannons and went on to cap a great debut with 3 goals, two assists and a best player vote from the referees.  Fellow Parkhill schoolmates, James Wright, Dylan Wicken and Billy Norton contributed 2 goals and 5 assists between them but it was Remy Turner who played the standout game with 6 great goals against spirited defense.

The Tanks are rolling

The Under 11 Camberwell Tanks faced MCC with three players missing but a loan of two from the Cannons got them to a full starting line-up.   They didn’t take long to get rolling with Nicholls, Frawley and Seibel netting 5 goals and MCC held scoreless during the first period.

Junior Tuesday training schedule

Camberwell Lacrosse will be running fortnightly specialist skills training sessions every second Tuesday for boys. Each session will focus on specific skills - see the schedule below.

The sessions will be targeted at the boys u15/u17 game, however seniors and u13 boys are welcome to attend. It will be a great way for u13’s to transition to the u15-style game and learn additional skills and tactics. Boys without arm guards or shoulder pads please arrange to borrow from club loan equipment prior.

Sparkling Start for Camberwell Women

The women’s season opened on Sunday 29th April with Camberwell represented in Division 1.

Some of our team were probably wondering whether the couple of missed seasons would find their skills rusty.  Far from it! The team sparkled their way to an impressive 18-8 win over Williamstown.

Grace Mackie was a powerhouse in the centre, dominating the face-off and driving into attack with her awesome running game and slick stick-handling skills.  She was well supported in the midfield running by a stand-out game from talented Amanda Hollenkamp.

Fighting win for U13 girls

It was a hard-earned but exuberant victory for the Camberwell Under 13 girls when they faced off against the combination Eastside team at Malvern Lacrosse Club on Sunday 29th April.

Miakoda Murray and Ruby Pagliaro were early scorers for Camberwell to have their team ahead 2-1 at the first break.  Eastside rallied to take a 5-3 lead at half time and the task was set for our girls.

Great start for the under 11's

Camberwell got underway in style at the opening games of the Lacrosse Victoria Under 11 competition on Saturday 28th April.  With a squad of 16 players divided into two teams, the Wells travelled to Eltham to play, what was for most players their first ever lacrosse match.

Coaches Scott Nicholls and Doug Fox gave the players the opportunity to come up with their own team names. One team came up with the Tanks and the other has yet to finalize their name.

Camberwell Tanks 9 defeated Eltham Russell 7

Sean in Aussie colours

Great to see that Sean Aaron is displaying his brilliant goal-keeping skills with the Australian Squad in Japan.  Congratulations on his 2 ‘Most Valuable Player’ awards, one in the first test in which Australia 8 defeated Japan 7, and another in the fourth test which Australia won 12-5.  The series in Japan is part of the preparation for the World Championship to be played in Israel in July this year.

We are thrilled to have Sean flying the Camberwell Lacrosse flag and wish him the very best for his participation in the Australian team.
