U11's play Footscray at home

19th and 20th May

Camberwell under 11 teams enjoyed a beautiful morning playing against Footscray teams at Dorothy Laver West. The games were played at the same time as the U13 game against Brunswick, making a great atmosphere.

The Cannons jumped away with early goals against Footscray to post a 5-1 first quarter with Bailey Nicholls and Billy Norton leading the charge. Dylan Wicken and Emma Hew were creating drive from some fine ground balls and James Wright made great position to dish off what became 7 assists for the game.

By three quarter time the Cannons had the game well under control at 15-4 after some brilliant dodging and goal shooting from Remy Turner and Jasper Forsyth.  With Zac Nicholls taking over as goalkeeper, Camberwell cruised to a well-played victory.

Camberwell Tanks 16  def  Footscray White 9

Playing short with two team members away, The Tanks looked to be against the odds when Footscray opened with 3 goals to 2 in the first period. Camberwell rallied in the second quarter and netted 4 goals to hold a 6-5 lead at the half. Andrew Balzat-Fuller showed the way with brilliant ground ball wins and tireless running to break up the opposition attacking moves.  Joel Goldhagen placed two nice goals into the net after eluding his Footscray opponent.

The Tanks took control in the second half with new player Brett King winning groundballs and Magnus McCrae making decisive runs in attack to bag three goals.  Goldhagen added two goals with whistling shots that left the goalkeeper no chance. With the team showing a growing sense of position play, Daniel Frawley continued his dominant work in defense and McCrae lit up the attack with four final term goals.
