Welcome to Season 2022

Weclome to season 2022

Hello everyone and welcome to season 2022. It looks like we will get a complete season; the first in nearly 3 years.

Pre-season has started with many players in attendance. Check out the information about preseason training and be sure to first register with Lacrosse Victoria so that you're covered by insurance.

Personnel changes

We have a number of personnel changes this year. Doug Fox who has driven our recruiting for some 40 years has now moved into retirement. Doug has put countless hours into recruitment and many of our players got their first taste in lacrosse through Doug.

We wish Doug all the very best in his well earned retirement.

Moving into the recruitment role is Tony Hollenkamp. Tony has been our Junior Coordinator for 8 years and his knowledge and expertise in entry level lacrosse makes him an excellent candidate.  Congratulations Tony!

Want to get involved with Camberwell?

With those two changes it leaves a significant gap in our junior program.

Prior to COVID we experienced significant growth in both girls and boys lacrosse which we expect to now resume. Our Junior sub-committee does an excellent job managing this, but they can always use extra hands. If you are keen to roll up your sleeves and assist please get in touch.

There are many roles, with some being Team Managers, line marking, equipment management, and the morning coffee cart.

There are also opportunities for funded roles such as coaching and umpiring within the club. If you're new to the sport, there is no better way to become acquainted than by coaching or umpiring. Certification courses, equipment, uniforms and mentoring support are included.

If you are interested in becoming a coach or umpire, please get in touch.

There are other areas of the lacrosse clubs where we need assistance. Throughout the lead up to the commencement of the season we will be posting these opportunities to help. If you have skills in these areas and are keen to help out then please do so.

Paid coaching positions now available

With term 1 underway, we have been invited to present lacrosse to students at some of our local primary schools. This is a great opportunity to get players of the future interested and engaged in a new sport. The schools we work with are very enthusiastic about lacrosse, with the PE teachers on-hand to help out when needed.

You are also paid for your efforts - $40 per 50 minute session.

All you need to do in preparation is:

  • complete the short induction course for QuickStix lacrosse (~1.5h)
  • have a current Working with children card.

Clinics will run during March, and timetables will be available soon.

If you are interested, or want more information, please contact Tony at juniors@clclax.org.au, or phone 0408328322.
