Weekend Wrap 6-8 May

U12 Girls vs Williamstown

With a slightly later start time for our Mother’s Day clash (thanks Williamstown!) the team was prepped and ready to go for our second game. There was some fantastic work throughout the midfield from everyone, and we are starting to get a much better handle on picking up players as we transition through into defence. Special mention to Mia and Charlotte L for some great defensive efforts, and to Tia, and Charlotte P for running hard and continuing to push forward into our attack. Hudson and Lacey’s attack on ground balls was outstanding, and you worked hard to clear the ball beautifully from goal and through the midfield - well done!
Unfortunately while we had many forays into the forward line, we were unable to get our shots past the Williamstown keeper who was fantastic and stopped pretty much everything! And special mention to our captain of the day Amelia who stayed positive in goals and did great job for the entire match - some super clearing in particular!
Look forward to seeing you all at training on Thursday night for a fun session of shooting, shooting and more shooting!
Final Score: Camberwell 4 - Williamstown 18
Player of the Game: Amelia Lal

Womens B grade vs Brunswick

After a first round bye, and with 3 other Camberwell female teams having a bye, the B Grade team travelled to Brunswick for its first game. The team was made up of group of young inexperienced (at the senior level) juniors and some returning players. Welcome back Chloe and Georgia and nice to see Megan on the field. And congratulations to Rachael and Rhyannon on their senior debut.

Led by Laura and Chloe in the midfield, Camberwell started at a fast pace, piling on 9 goals in the first quarter. After quarter time, the team focussed on working the ball around and improving their passing, cutting and approach on goal. The girls showed a great ability to get ahead of their opponents and make any loose ball theirs. Rhyannon, Ruby and Emma showed great poise bringing the ball into attack and keeping it there, Sophia and Maddie proved effective with both scoring 3 goals. And our two goalies both made multiple saves in their respective halves.

Final score: Camberwell 18 - Brunswick 2

Best: Rhyannon, Laura, Chloe
