U13 Camberwell Derby is a thriller!

The Camberwell derby finished in a thrilling draw as our two Under 13 teams went head to head.

Both teams were short of players with a Scout hike taking 6 boys and 3 others missing with illness. The Magic set their stamp on the game with two strong opening goals with Fergus Boyd dominating the ground balls.  Blitz hit back through goals to the Whelen brothers and Ned McKenna to lock the game up 3 all at the quarter break.

With McKenna and Falconer-Boag winning at faceoff the Blitz took a one goal lead into half time but gave it up when Magic took over for 6 goals in the third term.  De Bono and Lewis each scored twice and the Boyd brothers added goals of their own. Magic 11 to Blitz 8 at three quarter time.

Frank McKenna switched to defense for the Blitz and immediately turned the tide with great defensive intercepts and clears for the Whelens and Ned McKenna to score.  With the game tied,  Lewis got a long pass to De Bono who found the net for the Magic with two minutes to play.  Desperate defence by the Blitz  freed Lachie Falconer-Boag who dodged and got the ball to Liam Campbell who forced his way through to the goal and buried his first-ever goal to even the match just before the final siren.
