Match report for Sat. 2-May
Under 11
Camberwell 14 def. Eltham Black 3
In a dominant display the Wells showed great team-work to hit the scoreboard three times in the opening period with Varick Boyd and Edward Whelen the scorers. Miles Cowton was playing an outstanding quarterback role and, with Angus Ashby, was impassable in defence. The flood of Camberwell goals continued in the second quarter with Frank McKenna and Boyd scoring multiples and Ashton Tubb getting free in front to nail his first-ever goal. Angus Ashby showed as goalkeeper how much his game has matured - knowing the right time to come out for a groundball and placing pinpoint clearing passes to the midfielders
With a 9 to 0 lead at halftime, Camberwell switched to a multiple passing strategy and Zac Bigaignon got on the end of the chain to place two nice goals past the Eltham keeper. Cowton came on to midfield and made his presence felt with a swift goal while Colby Gale was breaking up many opposition plays with his dash and cool interceptions. In the last quarter Lucien Minto broke through for his first goal and Bigaignon added another to finish the game.
