Five teams progress in the finals
Girls U13 - Preliminary Final
After last weeks heart stopping semi final win against Newport, the Camberwell supporters were nervous coming to a game against a team we lost to in the last game of the season. The girls, however, were well prepared and came out firing. In a first half blitz, the dynamic Camberwell midfielders scored 7 goals to none. Trinity, Ruby and Miakoda were damaging in the middle and drove hard at the goals. In the second half, the girls piled on another 4 to Eastsides 2, with Eva and Siena adding goals. The result was a comfortable victory.
The pleasing part of the game was how hard the whole team worked. It is difficult to pick out any individual players as standouts. The midfield was mighty and had the better of the opposition. Mikayla, Siena, Emma and Sarah consistently defended any of Eastside's drives creating many turnovers. Eva and Maya used their tremendous speed to get to any loose balls and drive us back into attack. Rhyanon and Millie did a great job keeping things moving in attack. Hayley, Claire and Tilly all worked tirelessly at both ends. Ella managed a number of great saves to go with the first half shut out.
Next week Camberwell play Footscray Green in the Grand Final.

Ladies Division 1
The Camberwell ladies team have already progressed through to the Grand Final next week. They will take on Malvern.
Mens Division 2
Camberwell started strongly with a sensational goal from Fionn in the first 10 seconds of the game. From there on, Fionn dominated the face off and made a big difference giving Camberwell first use of the ball. The team looked slick in the first quarter outscoring Altona 4 goals to 2. Twisty was particularly effective with 2 goals and some great assists. The team pressed the advantage in the second quarter going to the half time break 3 goals ahead. Eddy, Brad and Twisty added to the scoreboard.
After half time, Altona made a valiant comeback and really put the pressure on Camberwell, we dropped our heads and gave away too many penalties. Goals to Altona saw them get back in the game, drawing level, before Camberwell pulled one back. Aidan made some sensational saves to minimise the damage and keep us in the game.
The save of the game came in the third quarter when Matt Kerr tried to bamboozle the goalie with a stickside-high slow doosra. The Altona goalie adjusted his helmet, retied his left shoe lace and then completed the save. The crowd gasped and Cocky said "what was that?" on the sidelines.
Whatever was said by Bruce, Alex and Aido at 3/4 time did the trick - the team came out firing. They poured on 7 goals. Matt redeemed himself around the crease with 2 goals and Glenn and Brad added 2. Twisty finished off with a further goal for a tally of 4 goals and 4 assists.
If the team can play like they did in the first and last quarters, they will be hard to beat in the rest of the final series. Next week they play Surrey Park for a Grand Final berth.

Boys U17
The U17 Boys played a strong and angry Williamstown team. Our boys held a team that has been undefeated all season to 13 goals, their second lowest score of the season (lowest was also against Camberwell/Chadstone). Matt and Andrew played really well at faceoff and we were very competitive in the centre. The defence led by Dante were strong, forcing Williamstown to take a lot of outside shots. The boys struggled to retain possession in Attack. Sammy scored 2 goals in the second quarter and Joey one in the last.
Camberwell will face Altona in the Preliminary Final next week for a spot in the Grand Final.
