2022 here we come
2021 wrap up
2021 was an interesting year for Camberwell Lacrosse club. Although we were impacted badly by the COVID pandemic, there were still a number of highlights:
- Camberwell fielded its first-ever Women’s State League team. The ladies competed well and were sitting at third on the ladder when the season was prematurely ended.
- The Men’s State League team finished the season on top of the ladder, looking primed to go all the way before the season ended.
- Despite major recruiting challenges in both 2020 and 2021 with no access to local schools, we still found some new talent and had players playing in every age group.
- In the girl's program, there was some great success on the field with the U15 Girls undefeated and U13 and U17 heading for finals. Plenty of new and exciting talent arrived in U11.
- For the boys, both the under 11 and under 15 teams fielded a large number of new players. Both teams worked hard and showed massive improvement as the season progressed. The U15 were close to contending for finals. We hope for big things this year
- 10 girls, 14 boys and 3 coaches from Camberwell competed at the end of season U15 representative tournament that was held this January in lieu of the usual U15 national tournament in September/October. Claire, Eliza and Matilda competing for Ice Blue came away with the win and our Southern Crosse boys made it to the final but lost to Western Metro. The girls are pictured above.
- A new storage shed was built at Eric Raven Reserve for the exclusive use of the club. One of the most exciting things about the shed is that the doors are high enough to bring goals in and out without bending over!
- And the grass at Eric Raven has been renovated. Time will tell if it holds up better in winter
- Club legend Doug Fox received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Boroondara Council
“Doug has displayed an incredible commitment to the club for over 50 years and boasts an impressive participation and volunteer record. His drive and passion has allowed Camberwell Lacrosse Club to prosper and become one of Australia’s leading clubs.”
2022 change to junior age groups
Lacrosse Victoria has changed the age groups this year to better line up with player needs. They have created the following age groups to align with school years
school year | birth date | |
---|---|---|
Under 18 | year 11 and 12 | 1/4/2004 to 31/3/2006 |
Under 16 | year 9 and 10 | 1/4/2006 to 31/3/2008 |
Under 14 | year 7 and 8 | 1/4/2008 to 31/3/2010 |
Under 12 | year 5 and 6 | 1/4/2010 to 31/3/2012 |
Under 10 | earlier years | after 1/4/2012 |
There will be flexibility for players who have birthdays in January, February and March whose fellow classmates at school are mostly in a lower age group. Let us know and we will use the most appropriate age group with LV permission.
LV is planning something new and exciting for the under 10’s.
