The last Sunday of February is coming up and that means it’s time for the annual Ashburton Community Festival! Activities to look forward to include the Juke Box Parade, Sharron Zac & the Red Brigade, belly dancing, zumba, tai chi, footy handball, and rock climbing. The usual carnival rides, gourmet food selections, musical entertainment, and dancing will be there but best of all, Camberwell Lacrosse Club are hosting a stall!

New club rooms in Eric Raven Reserve

Construction on a new sports pavilion in Eric Raven Reserve is going as planned. The main structure is now up and the exterior is impressive! Work is moving along quickly and the committee expects the new rooms to be ready by the end of the season, so we can have a welcome to function.

Players Edge Sports support CLC

This season 2011, CLC welcomes the support of a new sponsor. PES recognise the valuable contribution to lacrosse that CLC make and have come on board to help us along our way. We all have Cameron Toomey to thank for this. Cameron, who is well acquainted with our club members, owns and runs the shop.

Australia Lacrosse Classic

Since before last year, Lacrosse Victoria has been providing some information about the Australia Lacrosse Classic. Reaction has been positive and, going by what is happening in the United States, it’s not hard to see why. More people participate than just single State representatives and therefore more matches are played. Additionally, there is more emphasis on having a good time and playing some top-level lacrosse. Competition is great without the drama of striving to be the national champions.

Congratulations to Nick and Lyndal Bugeja on the safe arrival of baby Jake! We look forward to having Jake in our club.

B Grade Grand Final 2010

Grand Final team 2010

After a relaxed training session on Tuesday the women discussed tactics to keep Surrey from passing to their    younger fitter players. Game day had good weather but Chadstone goal fans were beginning to look pretty muddy. Slips were common.

Doug Fox awarded OAM

Our very own Doug Fox has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia as a part of the Australia Day 2010 celebrations. The award is in recognition for outstanding service to Australian Lacrosse and Victorian Golf.

A fitting recipient, Doug has been a tireless worker in all facets of lacrosse development. From the rejuvenation of junior at Camberwell Lacrosse Club right through to the Executive level of the Australian Lacrosse Council.
