State League

It was a morning of trepidation, in my memory I have never walked into a State League fourth round match 0 – 3. The sun was shinning, disguising the chill that engulfed the Camberwell bench minutes before the call to arms.

Bank with Bendigo and help your club

Bank with Bendigo and help your club

Bendigo Bank is different from other banks in so many ways. Their community based approach to banking remains an important source of direct and indirect support for community sector organisations and their staff. They’ve sponsored several local clubs - soccer, footy, running, swimming - and now they’re giving their support to our local lax clubs as well.

Mention this promotion to the branch staff at Surrey Hills, Canterbury, and Ashburton Community Bank branches and they award the following cash incentives to the local club:

This year marks the 50th successive season of Women’s Lacrosse in Victoria and to celebrate, the ladies are organising a 1960’s style Picnic Day at the Eltham Lacrosse Club on Sunday 29th May. This is a fun day for the whole family with a bunch of interesting activities slated to keep the energy up. Good luck to Travis and Clinton

Good luck to Travis and Clinton as they prepare for World Indoor Championship in Prague. Lacrosse Victoria will be sending through a link where supporters can access game results/fixtures. At times there is a live stream from selected games.

The two men are shown with Patrick who has helped to sponsor their campaign. Aussie Aussie Wells!

Congratulations!

To Marde Hoy who has just announced her engagement to Rhys. Marde was a long standing committee member and secretary for several years. She played seniors and helped to coach our juniors. We will be awaiting her return to Australia to hear more.

To Dylan Trewern, our CLC member of the successful u17 Victorian team. Dylan was long stick defence, number 18 and he had a great game especially in the final quarter when WA upped their efforts. VIC won 14-10 and all 4 finals were won by Victoria. All scores now on the Lacrosse Victoria website.

Junior recruitment drive makes excellent progress

Huge thanks to all who have helped with the junior recruitment drives at Hartwell, St. Michaels, Solway, and Camberwell Sth. Lacrosse Victoria has a little saying that “Recruitment of new players is the answer to any lacrosse problems”. The final ‘come n try’ session for new players was held Saturday 2 April just before the registration day program.

State League

The Camberwell spirit was absent for the first three quarters, despite Camberwell leading into the first break (Camberwell has been a slow starter for the last two decades). But a Camberwell ‘esque’ foul with seconds to go in the first quarter put Camberwell on the back foot, from which Camberwell never recovered.

A spirited come back from Camberwell arose in the final quarter but was all too late. A final shot into the night for a team that inspires a belief on paper, but couldn’t quite deliver in person.
