Under 11 - Sting

Score: Sting 2 - Williamstown Fearon 8

Match 1: Sting played a rain and wind swept match against Williamstown Fearon away.  The boys played a physically demanding match which tested their mettle.  Losing 8 to 2, the boys saw the advantage of anticipating passes and running with the ball.  Many players picked up from where they left off last year with solid performances, good running and reasonable passes.  Catching and picking up ground balls were trickier in the wet and pressured play.  Lucas in defense caught a stick in the forehead and showed determination to resume play.  Good goalkeeping by Williamstown belied the shots on goal Sting made.

Score: Sting 5 - Williamstown Cities 4

Match 2: Sting now wetter and wiser, proved they had the legs and determination, with good advice from Adam, began running the ball and passing more accurately.  Less intercepts enabled plays to emerge, especially in the attack zone where many shots on goal were made, recovered and worked into the net. Consistent performances again from many players showed the promise of this team.  The 5 to 4 victory was pleasing result for the work rate displayed.  Ethan H made an impressive 3 goals, and good plays in the attack zone were supported from hard work from defense.  A slimy yet satisfying match.  Players and parents were keen to get into warm dry cars.
