Victoria win in Adelaide

Victoria took out the double in Adelaide last night, winning the Senior and U19 Championships.

The Seniors defeated WA in a rather one sided affair 13-2, while the U19's also defeated WA in a much closer match 9-8.

The Seniors ended up facing WA in the final at the expense of SA, who can consider themselves extremely unlucky no to make the final. SA had the 3/4 time lead in each of its qualifying matches against Victoria and WA, yet ended up losing each game by 1 goal.

Victoria, who defeated WA 18-7 3 days earlier, continued their demolition job with the 13-2 result.

The U19's qualifying matches were a topsy-turvy affair, with visiting USA Team finishing on top and the three states following with 1 win apiece. Percentage would decide the two finalists for the National Championship game.

Going into the last day of qualifying matches Victoria had already booked a spot in the final with a percentage of 129%. The SA v WA match would decide the other finalist. WA had all the work to do because of their 7-14 loss to Victoria during the week. They had to defeat SA by at least 5 goals. At 3/4 time, WA had a 3 goal lead and turned on a 7-3 last quarter to win by 7 goals and go through to the final.

The U19 Championship Final was close throughout with neither side getting more than a 2 goal lead. Victoria took out the match 9-8 with our very own Joel Easson being named MVP.

In the U17's, one more day of qualifying matches is scheduled for Thursday, with the finals on Saturday.
