President's message on Dorothy Laver Reserve West
from Jennie Easson, Camberwell Lacrosse Club President
Yes, we lost our home ground of 35 years on Monday night, as voted by Boroondara Councillors. Dorothy Laver Reserve West will now become a soccer ground. Shattering.
But, we must move on into the next stage of life at Camberwell Lacrosse and celebrate our 92nd year in existence, in 2019, at our new ground for all teams at Eric Raven Reserve. We will have new lights for training and other new infrastructure including storage sheds, fencing and more seating.
While there is still work to be done in negotiations with Council, I would like to acknowledge the hundreds of hours that the sub-committee has put in with much research and many submissions : Ross, Doug, Rob, Bruce, Miron, Annabelle.
We are, and will continue to be, a leading Victorian Lacrosse Club. We have had all senior teams in Grand finals over the past 2 years; we are the biggest Eastern Suburban Lacrosse Club and the only Eastern Club to have junior teams in all age groups for boys and almost all age groups for girls. Our womens’ membership has increased by 100% in 2018.
So, players, parents, volunteers, supporters, continue to ask what you can do for the Club and how you can help to make this great family and local community club greater.
And remember, that Australian Lacrosse will be standing on the Olympic Podium long before Australian soccer gets close!
Go Wells!
